Christmas 2009

wHOa - wHOa - wHOa

Merry Christmas

I went to the barn this morning (about 4am) and helped Santa hang goodie bags on each horse's stall. A little gift from each horse to their owner is in the bag along with other goodies.

We have just a small amount of snow on the ground & it is cold outside.
I did go back for my camera & took this photo of Christmas morning to share.

I wish you ALL a Merry Christmas !

GO ZAGS..!

Alas, the Gonzaga vs Duke basketball game broadcast last Saturday from Madison Square Garden, was a depressing loss for Gonzaga.

We are long time NCAA basketball fans & Gonzaga is our favorite team. My daughter, being a graduate of Gonzaga University, is an avid "Bulldog Booster"; & we & many of our "horsey" friends have also become dedicated "Zag Nuts"..!

A Saturday game with arch rival Duke in New York City, provided the perfect excuse for a gathering of the Zag Nuts. Many arrived early in the day to ride before settling in to watch the game in the ranch office.

Everyone brought food & drink & we ended up having 2 gallons of Egg Nog to share. The Egg Nog (with a little rum/brandy added) came in handy to keep our "spirits" up, as our team couldn't seem to buy a basket & the scales tipped for Duke this time around. Despite the loss, we all had a great time!

Next game is December 28th against Eastern Washington University - and we will be watching!

DECEMBER 2009

Well, here we are, almost a full year later & I am just now getting back to blogging. 2009 was an "interesting" year, and difficult to re-cap with words, so will attempt with a few photos!

We had 2 foals of our own born in 2009: "Cookie" and "PV"

Here they are in later photos; they grow up so fast.

Our little "PV" filly got very sick early on & earned her nickname of "PV" from "Paid the Vet". She has a nice big white belly spot & the cutest head you could ever want. Happy to report that she recovered 100% & we will be fitting her to take to her first show as a yearling in 2010.

"Cookie" attended her 1st show last August at the North Idaho Fair Horse Show. She was judged the Grand Champion 2009 foal over all breeds. We are offering Cookie for sale. We think she will be great longeline horse as a yearling. So smart & easy to work with, that her nickname became her registered name; "Will Bea Smart Cookie". She is sired by our stallion CLASSY WILL.

Our first foal by our OBVIOUSLY MORTGAGED stallion is registered as Obvious Link To Gold - but to those that love him his barn name is "Rudy". Rudy got to a couple of shows as a yearling gelding. He is absolutely a beautiful horse, and photos don't really do him justice; but here is one photo of him as the winner of a yearling halter futurity last August. We are reluctantly offering Rudy for sale, as he deserves a show home & is just to darn nice to hang around here with us, even though he makes me happy just to look at him.

Hubby Harold had a very busy year gaming with Shesa Classic Design; better known as "Dottie". Sired by our stallion CLASSY WILL, this mare was raised by us & has that same need for speed that hubby Harold has: they are quite the team & looking forward to more speed events in 2010.

Okay, this is getting long & so much more to share. I promise to blog more often with news from our barn in 2010. There is a reason our motto is "Never A DULL Moment...! "
