Spring has arrived...!

Here I am, still trying to blog more often & realizing I am, yet again, trying to catch up on sharing news.
The 2010 Breeding Season is in full swing.
Springtime here at the Ranch always means new foals being born!

The first new additon was born January 31st - By our stallion OBVIOUSLY MORTGAGED out of our mare SHES AWESOME COPY. Nicknamed "Smokey", he is a black colt & is stunning!

Then, 5 hours later, in the wee hours of February 1st, our Quarter Horse mare "Moka" BANKIN ON IMPRESSION gave birth to "Manly", a solid sorrel colt, also sired by OBVIOUSLY MORTGAGED. He is very tall & very handsome!

Both of our new boys are fine & growing like weeds! We plan on showing them starting in August, if all goes well. These are the only two foals of our own for 2010, but we are foaling out several customer mares. One of these, "Kelly" foaled a Quarter Horse filly just 3 days later on March 4th.

Another customer mare "Hershey" foaled a sorrel QH filly on April 9th. Her owners were all here to witness the birth. they even brought Hershey candy bars to help celebrate!

We still have 3 more mares in the barn that haven't foaled yet.
Needless to say, we are a little sleep deprived around here :-) Our barn web cam is up & running, especially in the nightime hours, and extra viewers are always appreciated to help keep an eye on the pregnant mares. You can view our cam broadcast at http://www.marestare.com/fcam.php?alias=kruger

Not much time to take photos, but I did snap one on Easter Sunday.
We had a good group show up to ride on a beautiful day. I cooked a ham & we everything folks contributed to the table we had a freat potluck Easter dinner for all to share afterwards.

Show season has begun & several in the barn have already been out & about showing their horses.
Here is a photo of some of them practicing Trail in our indoor arena.

I hope to have some show photos of eveyone all dressed up at the shows, to share the next time I get back here!

I hope the grass is growing & the flowers are blooming wherever you are!

Christmas 2009

wHOa - wHOa - wHOa

Merry Christmas

I went to the barn this morning (about 4am) and helped Santa hang goodie bags on each horse's stall. A little gift from each horse to their owner is in the bag along with other goodies.

We have just a small amount of snow on the ground & it is cold outside.
I did go back for my camera & took this photo of Christmas morning to share.

I wish you ALL a Merry Christmas !

GO ZAGS..!

Alas, the Gonzaga vs Duke basketball game broadcast last Saturday from Madison Square Garden, was a depressing loss for Gonzaga.

We are long time NCAA basketball fans & Gonzaga is our favorite team. My daughter, being a graduate of Gonzaga University, is an avid "Bulldog Booster"; & we & many of our "horsey" friends have also become dedicated "Zag Nuts"..!

A Saturday game with arch rival Duke in New York City, provided the perfect excuse for a gathering of the Zag Nuts. Many arrived early in the day to ride before settling in to watch the game in the ranch office.

Everyone brought food & drink & we ended up having 2 gallons of Egg Nog to share. The Egg Nog (with a little rum/brandy added) came in handy to keep our "spirits" up, as our team couldn't seem to buy a basket & the scales tipped for Duke this time around. Despite the loss, we all had a great time!

Next game is December 28th against Eastern Washington University - and we will be watching!

DECEMBER 2009

Well, here we are, almost a full year later & I am just now getting back to blogging. 2009 was an "interesting" year, and difficult to re-cap with words, so will attempt with a few photos!

We had 2 foals of our own born in 2009: "Cookie" and "PV"

Here they are in later photos; they grow up so fast.

Our little "PV" filly got very sick early on & earned her nickname of "PV" from "Paid the Vet". She has a nice big white belly spot & the cutest head you could ever want. Happy to report that she recovered 100% & we will be fitting her to take to her first show as a yearling in 2010.

"Cookie" attended her 1st show last August at the North Idaho Fair Horse Show. She was judged the Grand Champion 2009 foal over all breeds. We are offering Cookie for sale. We think she will be great longeline horse as a yearling. So smart & easy to work with, that her nickname became her registered name; "Will Bea Smart Cookie". She is sired by our stallion CLASSY WILL.

Our first foal by our OBVIOUSLY MORTGAGED stallion is registered as Obvious Link To Gold - but to those that love him his barn name is "Rudy". Rudy got to a couple of shows as a yearling gelding. He is absolutely a beautiful horse, and photos don't really do him justice; but here is one photo of him as the winner of a yearling halter futurity last August. We are reluctantly offering Rudy for sale, as he deserves a show home & is just to darn nice to hang around here with us, even though he makes me happy just to look at him.

Shown here by Bob Johnson

Hubby Harold had a very busy year gaming with Shesa Classic Design; better known as "Dottie". Sired by our stallion CLASSY WILL, this mare was raised by us & has that same need for speed that hubby Harold has: they are quite the team & looking forward to more speed events in 2010.

Okay, this is getting long & so much more to share. I promise to blog more often with news from our barn in 2010. There is a reason our motto is "Never A DULL Moment...! "

December 2008

Well, the year of 2008 is almost finished, and what a year it has been.
As I get ready to start the new year, my first resolution is to blog more often.

We have had a tremendous amount of snow this year - from early in 2008 to now in late 2008. The majority of the snow we are dealing iwth now came in just one storm. Everytime we think we have everything shoveld & plowed, another snow storm leaves us more work to do. I don't think I will wish for a "White Christmas" ever again :-)

A photo of the entrance to the front of our house. Won't be using the front door for awhile:-)

Just starting to shovel off the roof.

Anyway, just a taste of the 3' of snow we got in one storm. I'll share more photos later, whenever it stops snowinglong enought to take the camera outside :)

DERBY DAY

I've read several blogs about the loss of the TB Filly, Eight Bells, at the Derby yesterday. Understandably, may folks are saddened & angry. The very fact that this filly finished 2nd out of a field of 20 horses is remarkable. It shows that she deserved to be in that race...she was ready to run & run she did..! The tragic accident after the race should not take away from her tremendous accomplishment.
